Stop using the product and rinse thoroughly if an allergic reaction like redness or itching develops.
Rinse your eyes immediately if the serum comes into contact with your eyes.
Please wash your hands after touching the serum and avoid rubbing the serum into your eyes or mouth.
Clean the straightener regularly with a damp cloth.
Clean the brackets regularly by removing them from the device. Then wash the brackets under running water with some soap or shampoo and use a toothbrush to clean the serum from the slot. Wait until the brackets are completely dry before attaching it back onto the straightener.

We do not recommended winding the cord around your Philips Styler as this may damage the cord. After using your hair styler wait for it to cool down and wind the cord separately as shown in the image below.

Another reason for your hair styler to produce a burning smell might be that it is dirty. If there are some dust particles or residue accumulated on your straightener or hair dryer, they might burn due to the high temperature of the device and start smelling.

Device is unplugged
Before turning on your hair styler, make sure it is connected to a working electric socket. To check if the electric socket is working, you can try plugging in a different device and see if it works.
Electricity voltage is unsuitable

If your hair styler is still not turning on, it could be that its cord is damaged. In this case please contact us for further help.

Using the hair styler on wet hair
If you try straightening or curling wet hair, you will see a lot of steam coming out of your hair. We advise you to use your Philips Straighteners and Curlers on dry hair for best results. This is also the best choice for your hair.
High temperature setting
Your hair styler needs to be very hot in order to reshape your hair. This can result in some moisture from your hair evaporating and turning into steam. However, this is naturally replaced by the moisture in the air.
Always use the recommended temperature for your hair styler.
Water residue on the device While some moisture may be evaporated into steam, some can turn into water residue and be seen on the device while using it. This residue disappears itself after a while.

Not using the serum strips with the recommended direction.
When placing the selected hair strand between the straightening plates, please ensure the strips are facing down towards hair ends while you slide the straightener down.

The ION function is on
Your Philips Straightener is equipped with a special ION functionality to provide you frizz-free smooth hair. When this function is on, it is normal to hear a sizzling sound coming from your straightener. You may also get a strange smell. However, this is is nothing to worry about. The straightener is still safe to use.

Styling too much hair
It could be that you are taking a thick hair section to straighten. This will affect the quality of straightening, and you may need to repeat the process a few times.
Try taking a small section of hair, not more than 5 to 6 cm wide to straighten your hair in one attempt.
For Philips SenseIQ straightener, you may also try ‘Fast’ mode or choose a different manual setting to get faster straightening results.
Straightening wet or damp hair
Always dry your hair first before straightening your hair. Straightening wet or damp hair not only can damage your hair, but it will also not give you the best-desired results.
Not applying enough pressure
Another tip to get the best results from your hair straightener is to apply enough pressure. Make sure your hair is tightly pressed between the plates of your straightener.
Moving the straightener too quickly
Straightening requires a bit of patience. When sliding down the hair straightener, move it gently and slowly.

Depending on your hair styling device you may find the model and serial number on different locations on your hair care device. Model numbers for Philips Hair Stylers usually start with an HP or BH, followed by a number. The serial number has 4 digits in the format of YYWW (year and week.)
